Lavender is a light violet-colored flowering herbal plant known for its ability to reduce and relieve stress. As everyone knows, stress has a powerful ability to lower one’s immune defenses, increase blood pressure, produce stomach problems, trigger headaches and insomniac episodes as well as set off an array of other psychological and physical ailments. State of affairs that causes a great deal of stress needs to be avoided as much as possible for life is too precious to be wasted on such things. But if such cannot be avoided, then at least take a little bit of time to relax and have a break from all the strain and pressure.
A good way to relieve stress, tension, anxiety, or whatever you want to call it is simply to lie down on an easy chair and to listen to your favorite pop songs in your music player and a scent of lavender mixed with the essence of citrus oil going in the diffuser, giving off that relaxing, happy scent. Or perhaps, you can just inhale or rub the lavender over your skin to help you absorb the wonderful benefits of this essential oil.
To take away the stress, a nice bath in a tub of warm water poured with al most 6 to 10 drops of essential lavender oil can also be tried. This is best accompanied with a mellow music playing in the background, soft-glowing candles lighted around the room, and a bottle of red wine.
Other times, a few beads of lavender oil on the wrists and pulse points seem to do just the trick of washing the stress away.
You can also place lavender essential oil in your favorite hair conditioner during or after your shower. Otherwise, you can add a drop or two of lavender oil into your daily hand and body lotion when you rub it over your self after your bath. These are proven to produce a nice and calming effect. Or, you can put in a few drops of lavender on a small sheet or ply of tissue paper and inhale this with slow, easy breaths.
A body knead or back rub of a mixture of 1 teaspoon carrier oil and 5 beads of lavender oil may be applied to loosen tight and tension-filled muscles of the neck, shoulders, back, arms, and thighs.
Another way of relaxing and reducing stress is to employ the use of the lavender eye pillow. This is used when you just want to lie down and try to meditate and visualize yourself in someplace you most want and love to be at whether it may be in the highest mountains, in a grassy field or a sandy beach.
However, these are not just the main ingredient in reducing stress. You also need to eat a well-balanced diet with ample amounts of fruits and vegetables, especially those rich in Vitamin B Complexes. Do exercise, yoga, or take up dancing or music lessons. Pray a lot. Play with kids or talk to a dear friend. Take time to watch a feel-good movie and laugh hard. Sleep 8 hours a day. Relieve stress with Lavender. Lastly, learn to cry “NO!” to stress!
